What We Have Been Doing...

  • Reading:
We have moved on to our 7th theme which is titled, Keep on Trying.
We have introduced all of the phonics sounds that the children will be taught this year. For the rest of the year we will be reviewing and practicing these sounds. The good news is that we only have a few more decodable books to send home for you to practice!
We read a story called, “The Itsy Bitsy Spider.” While reading this story we worked on the comprehension skills of predicting and cause and effect.
  • Math:
We have started a unit on telling time. We have been practicing telling time to the hour and to the half hour.
We are continuing to review coins and practice adding up groups of coins.

  • Social Studies:
We have continued our virtual field trips around our country learning about national symbols. This week we learned about the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
Read Across America
On Friday we celebrated Dr. Suess’ birthday. Ask your children what they did!
